Inspiration
THESE ARE MY WISHES FOR YOU
May you find serenity and tranquility in a world you may not always understand.
May a kind word, a reassuring touch, and a warm smile be yours every day of your life,
and may you give these gifts as well as receive them.
May you find time each day to see beauty and love in the world around you.
May you find enough inner strength to determine your own worth by yourself and
not be dependent on another's judgement of your accomplishments.
May you always feel loved.

The Language of a Smile
There's a special language spoken by everyone on Earth,
No matter what their country, no matter what their birth,
It crosses every border, it transcends all time and space-
It's known alike by young and old, and found in every place.
Those who speak it often, always find that it's worthwhile,
Everybody understands it - it's the language of a smile! |

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

The LAW of LIFE
The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
That stood out in the open plain,
And always got it's share of rain,
Never became forest king.
The man who never had to toil,
Who never had to win his share,
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never bacame a manly man,
But lived and died as he began.
Good timber does not grow in ease;
The stronger the wind, the tougher the trees;
The more the storm, the more the strength;
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In tree or man, good timber grows.
Where thicket stand the forest growth,
We find the patriarchs of both,
And they hold converse with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars,
Of many winds and much strife,
This is the Law if Life.

I ASKED GOD
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
I was made weak, that I might learn to obey.
I asked for health, that I might do greater things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be Wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing I asked for, but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am among all men, most richly blessed!

MYSELF
I have to live with myself and so,
I want to be fit for myself to know.
I want to be able as days go by;
Always to look myself straight in the eye.
I don't want to stand with the setting sun,
And hate myself for the things I have done.
I want to go with my head erect,
I want to deserve all mens respect.
But here in the struggle for fame and self,
I want to be able to like myself.
I don't want to look at myself and know,
That I'm bluster and bluff and empty show.
I never can hide myself from me,
I see what others may never see.
I know what others may never know,
I never can fool myself - and so,
What ever happens I want to be
Self respecting and conscious free.

This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength and I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, "There, she's gone."
Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and just as able to bear her load of living weight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her; and just at the moment when someone at my side says: "There, she's gone," there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "There, she's coming." And such is dying. |

When God sends forth a tiny soul
To learn the ways of the earth,
A mother's love is waiting here -
We call this wonder - birth.

And stills a fleeting breath,
A Father's love is waiting there,
This too is birth - not death.

"No cognate reason remains for supporting the soul with the body... We (scientists) find strong reasons for believing that man is of extraordinary importance in the cosmic scheme... It takes a lifetime to build the character of a noble man. The exercise and discipline of youth, the struggles and failures of maturity, the lonliness and tranquility of age - these make the fire through which he must pass to bring out the pure gold of his soul. Having been thus perfected, what shall Nature do with him, annihilate him? What infinite waste! As long as there is in heaven a God of love there must be for God's children Everlasting Life!
